Wesley Mission is an Australian, Christian non-profit, community service organisation that keeps the motive of helping people, at the core of everything they do.

Thanks to more than 4,000 volunteers, 2,000 staff, and more than a thousand donors and supporters, 'Wesley Mission serves all areas of the community from children, youth and families, to older people and carers, or anyone struggling with financial or domestic challenges, homelessness, addiction or mental health issues' (Wesley Mission, 2017).

Internetrix has worked with Wesley Mission on numerous projects over the years. Originally, Wesley sought after the expertise of Internetrix due to their knowledge of SilverStripe. Wesley's pre-existing website was built on Silverstripe and they required our help with additional web development  SilverStripe support,  to build a new addition to their site. Mainly, with the task of giving users the ability to purchase charity gift cards directly from their site.

Additional outcomes of the project included:

  1. Provision of rich media and social integration (media section)
  2. Provided user-friendly access to key services and information from any device
  3. Functionality to use or apply different widgets/capabilities to different templates (for example to use in-page locator maps on sub-section, topic and details pages if desired).
  4. Functionality to provide cross-linking and links to external sites/services
  5. Accommodate the varying needs of clients with disabilities and younger and older clients.
  6. Meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards for accessibility

Delighted with the results of this project, Wesley Mission invited Internetrix to complete an additional project

Wesley Mission - Intranet 2017

Due to continually increasing staff numbers, Wesley Mission needed additional assistance with the design, development and integration of their staff intranet. This had to cater to over 2000 people which meant a diverse range of the accessibility needs had to be considered. Both office staff and field staff needed to be able to access all types of devices, at any time, anywhere.

In addition, their primary objectives and requirements were:

  • Included key elements of brand (primary branding, curves, logo, fonts)
  • Met WCAG AA accessibility standards across all factors and meet WCAG AAA accessibility standards in use of colour
  • Ensured intranet is functional, clear and engaging
  • Included printable format of pages to allow user-friendly printing from browser

Working together, Wesley Mission and Internetrix achieved ambitious goals and and extremely pleased with the results. Wesley Mission remains a valued client of Internetrix and we look forward to continuing our relationship in the future.
