Tim Cope visits Internetrix

The newly named 2006 Adventurer of the Year, Tim Cope visited Internetrix yesterday as part of a whirlwind 9 day visit back to Australia. Currently in the middle of his latest 3 year journey from Mongolia to Hungary on horseback Tim received a satellite phone call in late August from the Australian Geographic Society requesting he return for the awards ceremony which was held in Darling Harbour last Sunday 24th September. At the ceremony Tim was named the 2006 Australian Adventurer of the Year.
Tim set of on his current journey on the 31st May 2004 from Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia with 3 horses and a puppy named Tigon, with the ambition of covering 10 000km on horseback by following the trail of Genghis Khan to Budapest, Hungary. Wikipedia reports that Genghis Khan is an iconic and admired figure in Mongolia having forged a powerful army and conquering large parts of China, Mongolia and Russia and many other countries between 1162 and 1227.
