Early last month, Shellharbour City Council General Manager Brian Weir with the assistance of Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells launched the outcome of 12 months of hard work by the Internetrix development team with the unveiling of eDA version 2, or as it has now been titled OASIS: Online Application Submission & Information System.
In 2004 the Federal Government, in conjunction with AusIndustry, released a $50 million dollar national grant titled the Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund. The RRIF fund was made available for Local Government to identify ways to reduce the regulation and red tape for businesses dealing with council on a regular basis. Shellharbour City Council, Strathfield Municipal Council and Internetrix joined together as a consortium and applied and was granted $180K to develop Shellharbour's existing eDA software and turn it into a fully fledged eServices portal.
In 2001, with a booming housing market, Shellharbour Council recognised the need to improve the application and transparency process for Development Applications. Version 1 of the electronic Development Application process was commissioned and built by Internetrix offering significant improvements, allowing for the first time in NSW, the ability to apply, submit and track a DA via council’s website.
For any reader who lives in or deals with Shellharbour or Strathfield Council and would like to take advantage of the one of Australia’s leading eServices web portals and application and tracking systems feel free to review OASIS at http://www.oasis.shellharbour.nsw.gov.au/
It is now possible to submit an application via the council website for any of the following applications:
OASIS is an exciting development which has a bright future. Future plans are focussed on a cradle to grave approach which identifies every application that a council receives and develop OASIS to the point where it supports the submission of 100% of applications via the Internet.
Embedded below is a video produced for the launch event, held on the 4th of July 2007.
