When it comes to computer peripherals – keyboards, mice, monitors, etc – not much has changed in functionality since early personal computers over 10 years ago.

One of the few exceptions to this is the implementation of the “Windows” key on keyboards from around 1995 onwards. The problem is that many people don’t know the power of the keyboard shortcuts (combination of keys) that the Windows key provides; especially when you have multiple applications open at once.

List of shortcuts:
• Windows: Display Start menu.
• Windows + D: Minimize or restore all Windows.
• Windows + E: Display Windows Explorer (used for navigating folders)
• Windows + Tab: Cycle through buttons on taskbar.
• Windows + F: Display find: files on your hard drive.
• Windows + Ctrl + F: Display find: computers on a network.
• Windows + F1: Display Help.
• Windows + R: Display Run command.
• Windows + break: Display system properties dialog box.
• Windows + shift + M: Undo minimize all windows.
